Lana, a refreshing and thought provoking reminder about balance and priorities.

6 weeks ago I started up with Yoga again (took more than a year off after the birth of our son) and its wonderful to experience the expansion that simply comes from breathing and stretching, literally and figuratively.

Great Brando reference and comparison...the fact that he was homosexual (well, had "homosexual experiences") and one of the most feared men in movie history at the same time, is a barrier that I feels needs to be addressed more in the world of typecasting.

I know plenty of people who are excited to see the Alabama Shakes....i've never really gotten a chance to check them out, but because their name keeps coming up, I'll definitely do so.

...and Amanda, those are my thoughts EXACTLY, but many people would not agree for the very reason that he is behind the dubstepy-techno-fist-pump sound that is "we found love"...which is epic to me, btw. ;)

There is no shame in being a fan of Calvin Harris. He's a DJ/Producer that can actually sing on his own tracks, and he is DAMN talented - pardon my French. Not that many people know he is the genius behind "We Found Love", y'know?

Seeing as he is playing Saturday, I really might have to find a way out there.

Daria, Thanks for outlining the situation. But what does it mean that investors are snapping up the houses? Here are a few things:

I believe it represents more shift of wealth from "wish they still hads" (the eroding middle class) to those who still have, the so-called "1%"

I think that investors are more aware of the pending housing shortage (the underlying supply that will be affected by future demand). Almost no houses have been built since 2007 - so there is a latent 5 years worth of missing new inventory.

Interest rates are at historical rock-bottom, and investors are benefiting, while that opportunity passes a very large number of lower and middle middle class Americans by.

I believe the net result of these trends will be a large segment of America shut out of home ownership, as the pending housing shortage drives house prices up while interest rates begin rising and before the lower and middle middle class segments recover.

A large slice of America will be denied home ownership, and the economic freedom and liberty it has typically represented in our country. This will be a fundamental and irreversible shift. Irreversible, that is, without a minor or major revolution of some kind.

Anyway, I'd be very interested in your take on this speculative scenario.
